Dear Readers,
Isn’t it funny how a dollar value makes little to no difference in our preferences once we have lived with the stuff for a while?
Or maybe it’s just me. Maybe it is because I am the guy who always roots for the underdog (except for when the Giants are in first place.) Here I am writing with perhaps the cheapest pen I own (fountain pen that is). This Osmiroid 65 with the Fine Straight Italic nib was part of a $15 Craigslist junk drawer find. I got the Osmiroid 65 and the 75 along with 9 nibs, including the coveted “Copperplate” nib.
I have had these wrapped up in a pen wrap for about three months, only now inking them. I didn’t give them much thought because they were had by for next to nothing. But now that I’ve inked them, guess what? Yup, I’m in love with this cheap looking, cheap feeling little pen.
Anyway, just a ramble, no words of wisdom except: Eat your Greens!”
P.S. Let me know what your favorite cheap pen is.
P.P.S What should my next ink be? I’m thinking dark blue.

Very true for me too. I also noticed that I use my cheaper pens more too. In my case it is probably because a lot more customization usually goes into them e.g. Dollar pens with nibs modified for Arabic Calligraphy.
I’m not sure if I have a favorite – I use an old style Sheaffer NN with a broad nib that I’ve cut left-oblique for Arabic Calligraphy a lot. The next in line are the cheap Dollar pens with a variety of nibs.

ps – You make beautiful journals. They are definitely on my want list
And to top it off I just found a box on nibs at an estate sale to try on the Osmiroids.
